Tour De Lafayette -- Historic Plaque Homes in Lafayette, Indiana

Welcome to Tour de Lafayette, a virtual tour of nine historic neighborhoods located in Lafayette, Indiana.

Historic Home in Lafayette, Indiana
Platted in 1825 and named after Revolutionary War Hero, the Marquis de Lafayette, the City of Lafayette boasts an impressive collection of historic districts, diverse architecture, and limitless leisure opportunities. The “Tours” are nine webcasts focused on eight historic areas across the city. Each episode is around 5-7 minutes long and focuses on 4-5 different sites within the neighborhood (historic homes, museums, parks, etc.). Be sure to be on the lookout for William Digby, the founder of Lafayette, in each episode. He pops up in some of the most unusual places dressed in a planters outfit consisting of a white linen shirt, brown vest and straw hat.

In addition to the video tours, you will find a virtual tour of the Wabash Valley Trust for Historic Preservation’s plaque buildings within the greater Lafayette area. This virtual tour consists of a map, photos, a brief description of each structure, and a printable walking tour of the plaque properties in each neighborhood. For more information on the Wabash Valley Trust and their building plaque program click on their green sycamore leaf logo located on the left-hand side of the page.

This website is meant to broadcast to the world the unique heritage of each neighborhood and Lafayette as a whole.

Tour de Lafayette was funded in part by a Preserve America grant from the National Park Service with additional financial and administrative support from the Lafayette—West Lafayette Convention & Visitors Bureau and the City of Lafayette.
